My idea... Is for the new chapter of the Shadow Clan, instead of just carrying on the same old same old crap. Instead of thinking small, I want the Shadow Clan, and not just the actual group but the entire surrounding RP, to become so much bigger. I want it to feel more accessible, and not quite as restricted, and at the same time keep the core environment together.

2007 New York
... In a city which upholds the weary pillar of civilization, a thousand souls are about to become harshly woven together.
The New York skyline. A symbol for the rest of the world, an icon almost as large in personality as a human. Several buildings puncture the skyline, not one more noteworthy than the rest, except one building, 100 stories tall, with the dark, twisting letters at the top of the building labeling it “The Everhate Hotel.” The first fifty floors – a highly populated hotel, where temporary residents, all of them either rich, famous, or a likely combination of both, bustle in and out, pleased to be in some way connected to the Manhattan skyline for a night. The top half of the building, however, houses some of the fiercest fighters known to man. The top ten floors house their administrators and commanders, leaders of the large family, the Shadow Clan. Undoubtedly the best at what they do. And what do they do? Only a few top paying organizations truly know, and these organizations have seen the Shadow Clan in action. They have seen the damage this once small group can create, all under the guidance of a desire for material gain. The services of their various supernatural powers go to the highest bidder.
However, the twisted sound of carnival music coming from the edge of the Queens borough of New York denotes a slightly less noble desire for blood. As the letters at the entrance of the amusement park re-arrange themselves, and the light of the sky fades, prompting the lights of the carnival to turn themselves back on, the sick circus song tells a tale of latent insanity, of a dark desire, and of an impending doom that will befall New York. The demented workers of the carnival turn themselves in to evil magic, summoning terrible creatures from a mysterious realm. Their insane laughter can be heard miles around, piercing the night. In the light of day, they release their terrible creature in downtown Manhattan, and the pure black demon jumps with agility from skyscraper to skyscraper, swooping frequently to the fear of the humans running madly in the streets. The insane followers of the Diablo Circus laugh with glee at the ensuing bedlam, but the demon’s terrible assault is halted by the Shadow Clan. Ruining the evil carnival troupe’s delight, the Shadow Clan destroys the demon, and a grudge is created between the two groups. The Shadow Clan, who were defending their home, have unknowingly become demon hunters.
In nearby New Jersey, helicopters buzz in on a large military compound. In a large metallic room, alarms go off and lights flash as men in white lab coats frantically scatter. A military of some sort is organizing itself outside. A commander is standing in the metallic room, his eyes glued on a spot in the heart of Manhattan, where not but two minutes ago at least five to ten supernatural powers were used to kill an unknown being. Five tanks rolled out, each one navy blue with the words “F.I.S.T.” painted on the sides in white. The planes launch themselves from the hangar of the Facility of Investigation for Supernatural Terrorists. And the president said this was a waste of money, the commander thought with a laugh. Pretty soon, he was going to have a little band of superhuman prisoners. F.I.S.T. was spiraling up in the priorities of America, and superhuman terrorist attacks were contributing to this. Superhuman terrorists such as the Green Deity simply couldn’t keep their opinions quiet, and now, with their new superhuman tracking technology, F.I.S.T. was going to capture all of these inhuman freaks. Every last one of them, the commander vowed. A man of lower rank rushed into the room, shouting to the commander that their most powerful missile had just been stolen from its place of protection on the Atlantic Coast.
The next morning, a small group of young men and women walk down the streets of Manhattan. The people do not run in fear, although anyone foreign to New York would probably think it were a gang; for this was the group that called themselves Liberty Blade. They were there to survey the damage done to certain buildings and landmarks by a reported “demon,” and decide what they were going to do about it. If New York was going to be attacked by demons regularly, it couldn’t hurt to get a leg up. They were not organized, and most of them did not have any supernatural powers. Most of them didn’t have great deals of money, so they lacked high-tech weapons, for the most part. Their weapons were intelligence and the spirit of New York itself. The people knew about Liberty Blade. They were the representatives of the people of New York, and it was this that gave them the will to fight, through all of their back-stories and tribulations. Whoever tried to tear down the skyline of Manhattan would be severely punished by New York itself.
That night, there was a distinctly loud thumping sound beating like a pulse through downtown Brooklyn, coming from the black-themed Goth club the Victorian Fang. Inside, the DJ was playing a raspy-sounding song, accompanied by a raw drum beat that was the pulse. In the corner of the club, sitting at a table, were several Goth teenagers, covered in leather and chains. This was the Blackfire Gang, who met there seemingly as a normal gang. But what one did not know about the small gang was that its members were supernatural by the very definition. The Blackfire Gang was truly nothing more than a gang of vampires and black witches, using their distinctive powers of the night to further their greedy and vengeful needs. A troublemaker of the New York streets, the gang was an acquaintance of the Liberty Blade, and their past meetings were not pleasurable ones. Now, the gothic terrors have heard something. Heard something of a demon attack in New York, and they can’t disguise their interest. In the opposite corner, a man sitting in a cloak watches the group, to their obliviousness. He pulled up his cell phone to his ear as the DJ changed the song, and called up his leader, the leader of Liberty Blade. He had some new information on the Blackfire Gang’s actions...
Across the city, in Brooklyn, an industrial garage sat silently in the night, looking nearly abandoned. Not a single sound stirred the area, not unless someone was to get extremely quiet. Only then would they hear the voices underground, the sound of machinery, working away in the night... The Argent Clan’s computer was hard at work, receiving calls from around the world to action. Their leader sat in a chair sorting through various jobs. Because they were connected by satellite, the Argent Clan, masters of light, were thought by many to be the most active mercenaries around. There were very few that opposed the Argent Clan, and most were bleak. However, there was one, a symbol of darkness that had the nerve to pierce the Manhattan skyline, the Shadow Clan. Until then, the group was unheard of, but now, the Argent Clan and their light-fueled machinery were ready to wage war on this threat over control of the New York mercenary scene. They nearly doubled the Shadow Clan in manpower; they recruited heavily. However, their use of lasers and light-based weaponry is what they believe will propel them to destroy the opposing Clan... Whether New York itself gets in the way or not. After all, light always does triumph over darkness.
The Shadow Clan
General Universe: I want it to be set in modern 2007 New York, and I want a sense of modern-ness to it, but at the same time, the Shadow Clan RP has been known to use a lot of a.) classic melee weapons and b.) magic. So, I don’t know... O.< Perhaps the connections to other dimensions can attribute to it. Like, if you come from Amamizu, you dislike guns and technological weaponry because you’re not used to it. Or something. Ideas?
FACTIONS (Joinable)
Shadow Clan: A group of mercenaries living in a New York skyscraper known as the “Everhate Hotel”. The first fifty floors are a genuine hotel business (and the main source of the SC income), the next forty floors act as living quarters for the various underclass members, and the top ten floors are a headquarters and living quarters of the main members, all connected by a single “Rec Room.” The group also finds themselves acting as demon hunters when New York seems to be attracting attention from the wrong groups.
Commentary: Basically the main group. The protagonists in most senses. The same old Shadow Clan you’ve always known (unless we wanna do ANOTHER restart. Otherwise, we can just say we went mercenary and moved to New York). I want to keep classic things like the rec room and give the Shadow Clan a sense of bigness as well. (Because the Shadow Clan always seems to have like... A bunch of soldiers just following them around randomly >.>) I expect at the beginning they’ll only be fighting demons occasionally and be more taking jobs and whatnot, but as the RP goes on we can slowly advance to the good ol’ “fighting tons and tons of demons” idea.
LOGO: Squirmy black writing, with Nightcrawler-like black smoke trailing off on the ends of the words.
The Diablo Circus: An evil circus led by a colorless ringleader who owns a star pentagram which can summon demons. They work by day as owners and attendants of the local amusement park “Dalobi Carnival,” but by night the fun-park turns into the “Diablo Carnival,” a death-themed circus filled with traps, evil grunts, and rides that spell certain doom to anyone who might be stuck on them.
Commentary: I chose the idea of villains without any morals, and with a sense of... “funny terror” from the Joker. Like killer-clown type things, a sort of comically deformed to the point of fear. As opposed to the past SC villains, which are basically trying too hard to be *evil.* Don’t underestimate them, however. They are just as bad, or perhaps worse, than other SC villains because they don’t operate on honor or any sort of twisted sense of morality. They heed only to the god for which their circus is named.
LOGO: Blood red dripping horror-style letters with black flames along the tops of the letters and a blue and yellow big-top style banner strung along the bottom.
FIST: The Facility for Investigation of Supernatural Terrorists. Based in New Jersey, this government facility is created to hunt and apprehend any person or persons deemed a “supernatural terrorist.” They are often very vague on what they consider a “supernatural terrorist,” and in fact they often attack anyone with supernatural powers regardless of their alignment or intent. They use several supernatural means themselves for tracking such people, under the excuse that they are the only ones responsible enough to do so.
Commentary: I took inspiration from Weapon X from Marvel for this one. It’s the government, so it basically takes a “hate all” stance. Only the high-ranking officials and such can actually be RPed. And, in a way, it’s also a method to control the RP. Like, saying, “you can’t blow up New York because the government would kick your ass.”
LOGO: Bright green digital clock letters with knife-bladed red, white, and blue stars randomly spread around
Liberty Blade: A group of mostly-human self-proclaimed “Defenders of the New York streets.” They are an urban-themed collection of New York warriors who are intent on preventing the destruction of New York by various villains. They are strong opposition to the local demon attacks, but they also dislike other factions for bringing trouble to their beloved city. They don’t have any set meeting place.
Commentary: Well, anyways, this is like... The urban group. The normal people. They’re not like... High up like the Shadow Clan, they strike low because they just happen to love their city. The inspiration is in those vigilante justice groups that protest and all that. The sort of underground group.
LOGO: Skyscraper-style skyline-formation letters with the green Statue of Liberty flame close on the left side.
Black-Fire Gang: A leather-Goth gang who is notable for their strange involvement with vampires, witchcraft and the occult, as well as other mystical horrors. Despite these interests, they lay low enough that they have not drawn the attention from FIST, though Liberty Blade is more than aware of them. They have no official HQ but often meet at the local Goth club, Victorian Fang.
Commentary: What is a Shadow Clan RP without witches, Goths, vampires, and leather? I figured this would figure into the whole idea of mysticism and sinister evil. I mean, where would all the evil Gothic people go? And they’re so very obviously there for the Liberty Blade to beat up. Yet, at the same time, they still have a serious feeling to them because they’re not just ordinary people.
LOGO: Letters a mixture of chain-style letters, black and purple “broken glass” large-print letters, a light-blue flame letters.
Argent Clan: A clan of mercenaries who rival the Shadow Clan. They are notable in that they are more high-tech; in fact, they use a satellite to pick up jobs before the competition, and their base (hidden in the basement of a large industrial garage) has its own super-computer, and this is all not to mention their high-tech light based weapons. They believe their use of light makes them better than the Shadow Clan, and yet despite this, they are not quite as skilled as the Shadow Clan, and they tend to treat their membership with less personality and individuality.
Commentary: I wanted the SC to have rivals that were technologically advanced and had a technical advantage over them (the use of light), but still for some reason didn’t quite reach their level of skill, just to highlight the fact that the Shadow Clan is just THAT good. But still, they can be semi-good guys at the same time. I mean, like, the rival in every story that ends up helping the hero at times due to mutual enemies.
LOGO: Silver flat-thorn or barbed wire letters
Skystrafe: A gang of richly financed pirates who go through enormously large lengths to steal and subsequently re-sell objects of value from government agencies. They are technologically advanced but their higher ranks are also known to have superhuman powers as a result of science. They have an Atlantic undersea base and have made themselves enemies of New York City and the U.S. as a whole.
Commentary: Everybody loves pirates, right? I felt this was a cool way to give people a chance to play as outlaws. It would make sense for them to hinder FIST – I mean, otherwise, FIST could just kill every supernatural “terrorist” in the game right away, right? I have an idea where at the beginning they steal a major piece of equipment from FIST that prevents them from telling WHO used super-powers; they can only tell where the powers were used.
LOGO: Waves of water coming up and swirling around metallic missiles which form up the words
Terror Bedlam: A group of people who were once admitted into the Brooklyn Asylum of the Mentally Ill. The owner of the asylum organized the various inhabitants into a clan bent on control over New York’s rich and elite, and used various chemical and mystical means to turn them into warriors. They use fear and terror tactics to bring the city to its knees, even though they have their own problems. They have a shaky alliance with the Diablo Circus. They meet in their abandoned asylum.
Commentary: Everybody knows I love Batman villains, because they’re all insane. What’s scarier than insanity? This is kind of an interesting group and could be really funny (I came up with an idea for a joke character for this group) or creepy, because, like the DC, they lack a certain sense of boundary that most people have.
LOGO: Thin black bent words with sharp ends, with one word situated over the other, appearing as if at the top of a gate, with bars stretching under it and off the camera
Guardian Angel: Based in an abandoned church, they are a “cult” of peace-lovers who are intent on stopping the evil demon summonings performed by the Diablo Circus. They dislike the war-like ways of other factions and instead only want to return peace to New York and the world. They accept people with all types of powers, although use of powers as a weapon is prohibited, unless used against demons. Their church is an old haunt for the Black-Fire Gang’s vandals.
Commentary: ... I mean, you have to have the super-peace people, right? The sweet nice happy people who just want everyone to stop fighting... Like Talim. I thought a little of PF when I wrote this, no joke. Maybe just a tad too whiny for such a serious plot, but there has to be someone with a perspective, right?
LOGO: White marble column-like words, with the tops of the words shining with bright gold light, and angel wings stretching from both sides of the logo
Green Deity: Eco-terrorists who work in the Bronx Botanical Gardens. Most if not all of them have some sort of powers connecting with nature. They tend to try and destroy any and all groups that use technology extensively, and their current project is to destroy the New York City skyline and the industrial mess that surrounds it. They are brought into the entire demon mess when they capture one of the Diablo Circus demons and experiment on it to create a strange plant-demon.
Commentary: I just like eco-terrorists. A little bit of “Rainbow Six” and a little bit of Poison Ivy, and add in a little Captain Planet in there just for the feeling of “we’re doing the right thing, right?” I guess they’re really not necessary, but we don’t want the RP to become too humany, right? There has to strike certain balance of super-powered people and ordinary people who fight with weapons.
LOGO: Green leafy vines curling around on to form the words, one vine to each word.
NON-JOINABLE FACTIONS:
There will be certain countries, organizations, and businesses that will be hiring the Shadow Clan and Argent Clan for use. In addition, other government factions will exist in addition to FIST, and there will be plenty of companies under attack from Green Deity. Perhaps rival gangs for the Blackfire Gang?

I wrote this all before our original meeting, so most of it will not fit. But whatever... This is what I had in mind going into this entire thing.

A little bit of “Rainbow Six” and a little bit of Poison Ivy, and add in a little Captain Planet in there just for the feeling of “we’re doing the right thing, right?” I guess they’re really not necessary, but we don’t want the RP to become too humany, right? LOGO: Green leafy vines curling around on to form the words, one vine to each word.
NON-JOINABLE FACTIONS:
There will be certain countries, organizations, and businesses that will be hiring the Shadow Clan and Argent Clan for use.
