Assassin pointed to the map. "For now, we should send some sort of message to the settlers. Most may be able to make it to a safe zone without much of our aid, which would free up more men for the raids."

AFR nodded in agreement
"We do it tonight, every moment is costly if what Radiant Said rings true. I will assemble a troop immediately" *AFR grabbed his ax and barked some orders, a military truck was there in about 2 minutes for them to take the trip to the east settlement.*

Assassin nodded and slipped off while AFR was getting the truck. He returned a few moments later, slinging a sword around his shoulders, letting it hang against his back. Assassin stepped onto the side of the truck and pulled himself in.

*AFR pulled himself inside forcefully after the damage from the earlier encounter with Radiant*
"We can set up some scouts and keep an eye out. This migration is only the beginning of something huge. It appears to be the beginning of a large scale human genocide. The Celestial Forces are in an uproar over the battle for souls for a reason."

Assassin raised an eyebrow as he watched AFR pull himself in but continued to listen as he laid out his plan. He didn't understand anything much about the Celestial Forces but he figured that AFR would explain more as the information became needed.

*They set trek for the settlement and already a grim feeling overcame them all... as if something vile happened*
"I for one am a kin with death... I feel it all around us... this is not some creature... this isn't even human... something killed here... I can feel it..."
*As they rounded towards the settle ment nothing was abundant that people had lived there... It felt almost deserted. No fire, no guards... just an eerie silence*

Assassin looked out of the truck, sniffing at the air. He may not have been a kin of death but he was no stranger to massacres. The silence around them was a big giveaway. Something had happened and AFR was most likely right about it not being human.

*AFR and Assassin led as the troop provided support, he looked on at the ripped apart tents and destroyed munition and food cargos... Bodies in whole and halves are thrown everywhere. Not a race or age was excluded... AFR growled at the sight of a mother and child both killed almost simutaneously it seemed.*
"Look here... Bite marks on one... but weapon marks on another... If I didn't know any better I'd say this was a greater demon attack... but we don't get many higher ranking demons here, just animals and lower primates..." *He pointed out the clean cuts of a blade, but then the rips of serrated teeth*... "The battle seemed to come from one side... to the other side... There was more than one assailent... they took quick work of this settlement"

Assassin was kneeling near the edge of a group of shelters. "You think a large group must have done this but there are signs of a grouping marching onto the village or marching away." He stood up and walked back towards AFR, looking at the ground. "But they have tracks while they are attacking." He looked around the battlefield "Not many demons can do that."

*AFR looked around...* "It doesn't make sence... it is like they came from another dimension then split... either that or they had access of teleportation. Then again... people here know demons... they know how to deal with demons and offer up the least amount of casualties... whatever took on this settlement took them by complete surprize..."
*He favored his walk to the fires, which were all burned out but a couple*
"Whatever did this sure hated the light... nearly every torch and bonfire this place had was burned out by something... some demons use nocturnal vision as a advantage... but none really have the cunning to do anything more then bash a skull on a rock."

"They did not seem to kill them all at the same time, though." He watched as AFR made his way to the fires. "Even when they knew of the attack, they could do little to fight back."

*AFR scratched his forehead* "There is just... no rhyme or reason to any of this. I know Armok has his enemies, but Demons are, despite their evilness, not up to attacking someone mentally... they go right for the source... they go for the direct kill... To try to defeat Armok in phychological warfare is not up to speed with any demon or demons we have ever faced."

Assassin closed the eyes of one child who was still clutching at his father's body. "...we may be in for some trouble then." He looked over his shoulder, "Whoever did this is most likely going to strike again soon. But if it ends up like this we will still be no closer to finding out who this creature is, at least until it comes to the base looking for Armok."

*AFR nodded* "We can sacrifice the troops to make sure this abomination doesn't repeat itself. I will make sure the remainder of the settlements are properly protected... There was no honor or shame in whatever did this tonight..." *With a set of calls the troops were moved from the Darkmoor front lines... they were distributed to the remainder of the settlements.*

"We should warn the others. Many of them are quite used to taking walks at night through here. Anyone out of the base is in danger. Perhaps inside the base as well."

*AFR nodded to the others* " Go back and do just that, I will get a troop back here to honor the dead... It's going to be a long night..." *So many innocents... whoever did this was discusting.* "I will return when everything is set..."
*The troops all packed into the vehicle and waited for assassin to join them*

Assassin nodded. "Alright. Check in by morning at least, even if you are not done. I will contact you if I receive any news that can be of use." He grabbed onto the side of truck, motioning for the driver to get going back to the base.

*The truck parted and Assassin was brought back to base, AFR and eventually a set of others began work of making graves with the help of AFR's jacket.*

Rose had found that she had fallen asleep on the kitchen floor, curled up on the rug in front of the sink. She yawned and moved slightly

GDR, unbeknownst to anybody else (as far as he knew, anyway) was rummaging quietly through the base in search of anything that would go for more than 50 cents on the street. That he could get out of there easily, anyway.
