Please note::: This is just an introduction, and is a work in progress. By posting this, it forces me to update it, and avoid an angry mob of readers from burning down my house.
In a world of hypocrisy, false prophets, faithless faithful, racism, bigotry, and ignorance...
In a world where murderers and rapists walk free to make room for traffic violations and raging husbands, of wars waged for oil and money...
In a world where the people are killing their planet, their unborn children, and their neighbors in the name of one God or another... strange lightning storms are ripping through power grids all across the globe. Hurricanes are brewing alongside tornadoes and cyclones and are destroying acres upon millions of acres of forests and farmland, as well as cities and townships.
Fires have sprung up in Alaska and the Arctic Circle, and the North and South pole flicker and battle for dominance as ice coats the sands of Egypt and Africa.
In a world where the people watch their universe unravel... life goes on, for ignorance truly is bliss...
==============================================
Thunder booms almost as loud as an explosion and Garrett started awake, falling off his and Corinne's bed with a loud thud. He scowls, rubbing his elbow, then blinks at the unusual darkness of the skies at noon on a Saturday. Seconds later, his phone begins to vibrate.
"Hello?"
"Garrett?" asked Katey hesitantly.
"Who else, bascha?" Garrett replied, yawning.
He stood, stretching with a growl, and he looks over at a still sleeping Corinne, curled into a ball with, as usual, all the blankets in the apartment. Garrett looked out the window and then bit back a curse as he saw an angry mob of religious protestors headed towards a mosque. There was going to be trouble, and soon.
"Garrett! Pay attention, turn on your TV, and put it on the news."
"Alright, Katey. Relax. You woke me up."
He turned on his TV... and then sat down, eyes wide.

They must find it difficult... Those who accept the authority as the truth, rather than the truth as the authority. -Gerald Massey
==============================================
On the screen, it showed Washington, D.C. being torn apart. Clouds overhead, black and red as if there was a fire within them, roiled and brewed, many swirling dangerously. Lightning flared and slammed into buildings, throwing cars and chunks of masonry. People screamed as the news anchor tried to give a report. That was when the man with the camera pointed at the sky. Something started to fall from one of the vortexes, and before it was half-way to the ground, it spread wings and roared. The sound was audible even over the panic and destruction of the storm.
"GARRETT! Are you listening to me?" Katey demanded, staring at her TV as well.
"There is a cambion on my screen. Get somewhere safe. Call everyone, tell them the same."
Before Katey could complain, Garrett closed his phone and set it on the counter. He walked over to his closet and pulled out his black combat fatigues, and then pulled two pistols from his dresser. He sighed, looking at himself in the mirror. He looked tired, and needed to shave. But that could wait.
BOOM! The explosion knocked Garrett off his feet, and woke up Corinne. Garrett scowled, turning off the safeties on his pistols. The news channel now showed the emergency broadcast rainbow screen. He knelt down beside Corinne until the grogginess faded away.
"Baby. We have a problem. Remember the funky weather we've been having?"
"Mmhmm." Corinne said, yawning before jumping almost out of her skin at the unearthly roar that split the afternoon rush-hour.
"Well. Good news and bad news. It isn't bad weather. But it is portals opening up to Hell."
Her eyes widened, and she made a face at him, thinking he was kidding. Right then, outside, someone screamed, and it ended in a wet gurgle. Garrett stood, and he pointed a gun at the door. Seconds later, the door to their apartment is ripped off the hinges by something. The only thing between it and them was a thin, probably cheap wooden door to their bedroom.
"Baby. Cover your ears."
Corinne covered her ears... and Garrett began firing at the door. Two, three, four, five shots. Then he stopped, listening. Something was writhing on the ground, thrashing violently. He walked forward cautiously, two guns in hand. He barely managed to roll aside as the door was splintered and another creature slammed through, a balrezu. The goat-headed demon, about seven feet tall, made a snarl and looked towards a stunned Corinne, who was frozen in place.
"Hey asshole. Over here."
As the demon turned to face Garrett, two 9 mm slugs slammed into the stupid demon's brain, sending it back to whatever Hell it had come from.

Snow in the deserts, and melting ice-caps. The Statue of Liberty's head was blown off by a bolt of black lightning, and strange creatures are spewing from some of the portals. Everywhere, in the United States, in Europe, in Asia, terrorists and zealots were commiting genocide and carrying out last minute attacks on religious institutions and governments.
All in all... hell was breaking loose. Literally.
==============================================
Garrett ushered Corinne outside, and uttered horrible phrases of words to make sailors blush when he sees the smoldering wreckage that used to be her car, their neighbor's car, and their neighbor. He looks around the street, watching for anything. He scowls, checking his cell-phone. Of course. NO SIGNAL.
Corinne made a strange sound and Garrett followed her gaze. Running down the road on all fours was some sort of strange, humanoid creature... and it's back was on fire. He pointed his guns at it and started shooting, but it kept on coming. Two clips later, it was almost on them. Garrett kissed Corinne's forehead, then pushed her aside, about to take the thing head-on... then, suddenly, it was crushed almost into the asphalt. Spider-web cracks radiate from it's corpse, and the flame extinguishes as a beautifully crafted, huge sword slides into it's back and heart.
Standing proud on top of a creature he just fell onto from the sky, Armok looked down at Garrett with eyes almost identical to his own, standing taller and broader, in beautifully gilded white armor with a cloak as white as snow. He pulled Reaver out of the corpse and hopped to the asphalt with a clank and a thud. He salutes Garrett respectfully and looks behind him, scanning the road for danger. He looks at Corinne and back at Garrett, then offers him a black knife he slides from his wrist-armor.
"Greetings, Garrett Roberts. I am Armok Everhate. I presume you recognize me from your Shadow Clan."
Garrett blinked, nodding dumbly as he took the knife, which he knew from HIS writing, was an obsidian sacrificial dagger. He looked at Corinne and smiled comfortingly, then back to Armok.
"Armok. Pleasure to, uhh... meet you?" He offers Armok a hand, and they clasp wrists and meet eyes.
"We have a problem. As you can see," said Armok wryly, "We are waging a war against Asmodeus, and somehow he has created rifts in the dimensional seals."
"That's bad." Corinne said, taking one of Garrett's pistols.
"Very." said Armok, "I am sorry to say, that our war has spilled into your world."
Garrett ran a hand through his hair. Today was going to be a long day.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle Ground, Washington, was becoming just that. Yet another explosion shook Katey's house, and she glared at her phone angrily. Garrett's advice was only so effective, especially when DEMONS RAINED FROM THE SKY ;_;. She looked hesitantly out her window, and flailed violently when she saw the cambion flying towards her. She flailed even more violently when she opened her eyes, and it was still flying towards her. She stepped back and took a deep breath, trying to convince herself this wasn't real... and that was when crimson energy blew the cambion apart.

Start living now. Stop saving the good china for that special occasion. Stop withholding your love until that special person materializes. Every day you are alive is a special occasion. Every minute, every breath, is a gift... -Mary Manin Morrissey
==============================================
Katey blinked, staring at the writhing corpse that, seconds before, had been an angry demon intent on ripping her apart. A red-haired woman stepped into view. The woman knelt by the demon, looking at it for a moment before rising, a shusuken in hand. A little ferret crawled out of her shirt onto her shoulder, sniffing the air. It looked at Katey with eyes far too intelligent for a simple animal.
Katey opened the window and waved, eyes wide. The woman looked back, red energy dancing around her shusuken. After a moment, she nods and the ferret chirps. The woman waves back.
"Katey?" asked the woman. "I think you know who I am. I am sorry to have to inform you that our war with Asmodeus has permeated the galactic barriers and pierced the protective layer around your world."
"Rose. You are Rose." Said an awe-struck Katey, who was resisting an impulse to flail.
"Correct. And this is Sakaki. But you already knew that. Come down here, it isn't safe here anymore. One of the rifts is here."
A few minutes later, Katey had enough supplies to last about a week and was on the street talking with Rose. Reddish flames licked at the dead cambion's corpse, eerily silent. Rose was telling Katey about the war with Asmodeus, and how things had started to look up before he started opening rifts to Hell... and other, phantasmagoric worlds.
"So, basically, he started calling in reinforcements from anywhere?"
Rose smiled grimly. "In many cases, the enemy of our enemy was still our enemy. Armok isn't very good with alien species, I'm afraid. His diplomacy skills kill things."
Katey laughed, as did Rose. They had a journey ahead of them. Katey hiked her bag up higher on her shoulder and they started walking, sticking to the shadows. Gunfire rang out in the distance as people and police engaged creatures, but defeat was inevitable. Overhead, hundreds of creatures were gathering, and some on the ground appeared to be opening a rift on the ground. At one point, another creature noticed them and tried to raise an alarm, but a crimson blast of energy crumpled its breastplate, which now bled from the seams as the mangled corpse inside of it writhed.
"Where are we going, Rose?" asked Katey.
"We have to find Armok. He will know what to do."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Several hundred miles away, near Niagra Falls, several vortexes spewed demons and other nightmare creatures in both the sky and on the ground. They were forming military units, and they were ready to eradicate. Ontario, much less the world, had ever seen anything like this before. Some demons were given special brands, meaning they were to scout ahead and recon, and pick the best paths to get where they were going quickly to kill and maintain the element of surprise. These scouts didn't know what they were chosen for on this day.
A pair of smaller, humanoid demons ambled along, mostly silent in the woods. They were hunting for a girl-human, meat and fun. They were to kill everything they saw, for the first day. Then survivors could surrender. They licked their drooling maws in anticipation, and memorized every step they had taken, looking for a speedy-
One of the demons howled, hamstrung. The other whirled around, looking for an enemy. Nothing. But the demon writhed and grabbed it's leg, mewling pitifully as blood splurted. Then, the second demon felt a strange, burning sensation... and then looked down at a claw erupting from it's chest.
The last thing it remembered before it went back to Hell was an oddly feline woman looking down at it in irratation, saying, "I really don't like these assholes."

The eastern world, it is exploding Violence flarin’, bullets loadin’ You’re old enough to kill, but not for votin’ You don’t believe in war, but what’s that gun you’re totin’ And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin’
But you tell me Over and over and over again, my friend Ah, you don’t believe We’re on the eve of destruction.
Don’t you understand what I’m tryin’ to say Can’t you feel the fears I’m feelin’ today? If the button is pushed, there’s no runnin’ away There’ll be no one to save, with the world in a grave [Take a look around ya boy, it's bound to scare ya boy]
==============================================
Katie yawned, smacking her alarm clock... and then she realized it wasn't the alarm clock, but sirens. She blinked, looking at her phone first, then out her window... and saw fires in the distance, raging violently. Overhead, the skies were roiling, and occasionally fire or lightning flickered. She looked at her phone again and checked her text messages.
2 New Text Messages
She read them. The first, from Katey, warned her to stay indoors. Seriously. Like Katie needed someone to tell her not to go outside into Hell? Gah. The second, from Mike, was more serious. Kayla was hurt pretty bad, and none of the hospitals in New York were open. Apparently, something had attacked, and nobody knew what was going on about anything.
Katie picked up her phone and grabbed her keys. She gathered everything she thought she would need for a long trip and started to head outside when she heard a strange sound. It sounded like someone was blowing a horn, and it drowned out the siren maliciously. She blinked, then unlocked her car. Katie slid onto the driver's seat when a massive trident pierced her windshield and passenger seat. It took less than four seconds for her to floor it, and the poor demon she hit was splattered like a bug.
About a mile later, she remembered to stop screaming and starting cursing and shouting horrible things about all sorts of people. That was when she noticed how dark the sky was, and the strange vortexes... and the roadblock. Smoldering wreckage and burning cars, some with people and families stuck screaming inside them, were piled on the road, and demons waited patiently for fresh meat. She slammed on her breaks, and her car spun around, the back side tearing a demon into three parts. Before she could take off, some sort of glabrezu grabbed the back of her car, lifting it off the ground. Before it threw, however, a cambion in blood-colored armor walked next to the driver's door and ripped it from the hinges effortlessly.
"Are you Katherine Blair Hatcher, maggot?" Asked the cambion, it's serrated fangs glistening with fresh blood.
"Uhhhh. No, she went that way." Said Katie, chanting 'ohshitohshitohshit.'
"I was hoping you would say that. Find her family. Kill them all." He said, running a talon down her leg, drawing blood. He sniffs it... then smiles wickedly.
"Fuck you." Screamed Katie, before he punched her in the face and she slipped from consciousness.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Corie was huddled in a closet, listening to something tear apart her room, hunting her. Sammy wasn't home from wherever he had went yet, and if he was-
"Corie, where you at?" Sammy asked, opening the door, which for some reason the demons hadn't destroyed.
"Run! Get out!" Corie screamed, opening the door to jump at one of them, smacking it with a heel from the closet. It growled in irritation, tossing her across the room to slam into the wall, then grabbed Sammy by the throat... before ripping it out. Corie looked up, groggy, and screamed. The demon started to laugh... then blinked, confused.
Sticking out of it's chest was about a foot of good steel... an assassin's blade.

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life. -Winston Churchill
==============================================
The demon slid off of the simple sword and landed with a thunk, pooling blood on the floor. Corie scrambled over to Sammy, sobbing, cradling him in her lap. She desperately tried to stem the blood flow as he choked, looking up at her with tears in his eyes. She didn't notice the man cleaning demonic gore off his sword... but both of them looked up at a thunk and another body slumping to the floor, this one with an arrow in one of the many eyes. Seconds later, a beautiful blonde stepped into the room with a bow in hand.
"What? You act like dats the first demon you ever saw," She said, then giggled, "Oh, right. It is. Hah."
She looked around the room, then saw Sammy. She gasped, then ran to Corie, kneeling beside Sammy. She closed her eyes and put her hand over his throat, and Corie watched in awe as the blood stopped flowing. Rent flesh knit together, and veins and arteries reconnected and repaired. Blood was recreated rapidly, and Sammy gasped in his first breath of air since his throat was ripped out. He coughed up some blood, and a teary Corie smiled her thanks to Hawk, who stood on shaky legs.
"Isaac, I told you we shoulda asked for directions!" Said the blonde, then she looked back at Corie with a gentle smile. "Hey Corie. I'm Hawk, and this is Isaac."
Isaac saluted with his sword, then stepped outside for a moment. He looked back in the room and held up four fingers. He gestured for Hawk and Corie to get a move on, and stepped into the hallway fully. He charged down the hall and sounds of demonic mirth became squeals of pain and rage. Hawk helped Corie tie Sammy to a makeshift stretcher that used to be an ironing board, and the two of them head outside. Down the hallway, four demons are attacking Assassin, a fifth joining the fray. Assassin blinks, concentrating. Parry. Duck. Slash. A demon's wrist went flying, the sword dropping to the ground harmlessly. He ducked yet another attack.
"Hawk. Go! I will hold them." He said, calmly.
Before he finished his sentence, a human growl filled the hallway, then a CRUNCH! as Kyle slammed a piece of metal into a demon's skull, tearing off half of it's face. He slams the same metal into another demon's wrist, cracking the bone. Before it could kill him with a counter attack, Assassin's blade slid into it's spine, effectively dispatching the creature.
While the two men finished off the poor demons, Hawk and Corie hurried outside. Moments later, Kyle and Isaac joined them. Kyle shook hands with Isaac, and exchanged a quick smile with Hawk before wrapping an arm around Corie and kissing her forehead. The nasty bruise on her cheek had been healed by Hawk seconds earlier.
"Kyle. I am Isaac, also known as Assassin. And I have... unpleasant news." He said, frowning. "Asmodeus has destroyed the barrier between our worlds. We need to find Armok."
Hawk frowned at his bluntness, then turned to smile at Corie and Kyle.
"Sorry guys. He's a bit on da rough side. We lost good friends in this war. But I guess you guys already know dat." She smiles again, sadly. "But thats okay! When we find Cheesepuff, he'll know what to do!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike slammed the door on the goblinoid creature's arm, and it's dagger clattered to the floor. He picked it up frantically, and stabbed the arm into a gory mess. Shrieks of agony erupted from the hallway as the door slammed shut, blood all over it. Mike turned and looked at Kayla, laying on the couch. She was pale from blood-loss, and time was of the essence. If somebody didn't show up soon, she was not going to make it.
That was when he heard a strange sound outside, like a muffled explosion. The shadows around the room seemed to thicken...

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. -John Stewart Mill
==============================================
Mike stands in front of Kayla, improvised weapons close to hand. His knuckles are white from how hard they are clenching the baseball bat in his hands. Outside, demonic howls of glee and rage are overheard from the cacophony of war outside. A sword stuck through the door... then an axe. Another sword, and the door begins to crack, and break. A demonic arm rips through the door, looking for the handle. Mike swallowed hard.
The arm convulsed... then fell into the room, severed from the creature. Demonic glee becomes screams of terror, and agony. The hallway beyond is pitch black, and it seems to muffle the sounds of the demons that had been trying to kill Mike and Kayla seconds earlier. Suddenly, a huge axe splintered the door... and a man stepped through, covered in ichor. He grins and puts his axe up on his shoulder.
"Well, aren't you two a sight for sore eyes." Said Severs, breathing hard. "You know, we thought we weren't going to make it in time."
Mike blinked, then sat down by Kayla in disbelief. A hallucination, maybe? Or am I just dead?
Suddenly, the hallway brightens, and an exotic looking Japanese woman steps in the room. She too is covered in demon blood and ichor. Her shadow blades fade back into nothingness as she crosses the threshhold.
"You are neither dead nor hallucinating, Mike," Hikari said, "But you will be the first if we don't leave soon. How bad is Kayla?"
"Who are you?" Mike asked incredulously.
"I am Hikari Moriyaku, and this is Severs." She told him, as Severs took his axe off his shoulder and stepped back into the hallway to watch for more demons. "You already knew that. Get serious, we have to go."
Mike gently picked Kayla up off the couch. She whimpered a little, but managed. She wasn't in shock yet, and she hadn't lost enough blood for it to be critical, but wasn't far from both. They followed Hikari and Severs to the streets, where the people of New York, barely crippled by their violated Second Amendment rights and gun control regulations, fought off the demonic invaders. Confused demons ran into the line of fire and were torn apart by bullets from all sorts of guns and rifles. Police and criminal, civilian and National Guard all fought against the demonic invader together as Hikari, Severs, Mike, and Kayla made their way through the streets.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Corinne stepped back slowly from the approaching demon patrol. She was out of ammo, and had only a few knives to defend herself. A dozen or so creatures were closing in on him leisurely, enjoying themselves and taking their time. Suddenly, the shadows around them turned black. Demonic chuckles became growls of concern and uncertainty before becoming howls of terror and mortal agony. When the darkness faded, Armok was revealed, standing with his sword pointed to the ground... with eleven corpses around him. Garrett was with him, sword in hand, black blood dripping from it as well. The last demon was on the ground, bleeding from superficial injuries... with the tip of Armok's sword to its throat.
Corinne smiled at Garrett and Armok, then walked over to her fiance. He wrapped an arm around her, exhausted. He blinked when he noticed Armok hadn't killed one of the demons. He looked at Corinne quizzically, and she shrugged before gathering weapons and supplies from the dead demons.
"Why didn't you kill that one?" Garrett asked, walking towards the creature.
"Two reasons. First, Katie was captured by Asmodeus' favorite pawn, the Prince of Blood. Second, this is his son."
